With a radar system like “Stalker,” the Highway Patrol sets its observational standards pretty high.
As we crested a hill in a 45-mph zone, the sun hit our eyes.
“See that guy,” Gerry said. “He’s going to pop over the hill going fast.”
Sure enough, the car is speeding at 59 mph.
Gerry hit the brakes. Then he noticed it was a sheriff’s patrol car. I burst into giggles.
“You think that’s pretty funny, don’t you,” he said. “I was right, though.”
By 7:40 p.m., the most exciting event was when Gerry tried to make me spill my coffee.
“It. Did. Not. Work,” he said.
